Astros 1-0 Winners Versus New York
|
The Houston Astros knocked off the New York Mets, 1-0, in American League action at Minute Maid Park. Houston pitcher and Sabana Grande de Palenque, Dominican Republic, native Framber Valdez had an outstanding performance. In 6.1 innings, Valdez surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Kevin Kelly earned save number 1.
In the bottom of the second inning, first baseman Yordan Alvarez had a solo home run for Houston. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Astros on top, 1-0.
"We didn't score," said losing manager Craig K. "That was the problem."
New York drops to 7-8.
