The Detroit Tigers topped the Minnesota Twins, 4-3, in American League action at Target Field. The standout performance belonged to Detroit pitcher and Azua, Dominican Republic, native Sandy Alcantara. Detroit, now 12-3, has played well in the early going.

Detroit used a clutch at-bat from Fernando Tatis Jr. to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Tigers ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"I still think this team can play even better," Tatis Jr. told the Detroit Times.
