St. Louis Beaten, 7-5, by Philadelphia
|
The Philadelphia Phillies weathered a fine game by St. Louis shortstop Jeremy Pena to upend the Cardinals, 7-5, at Busch Stadium. Pena went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. The win belonged to Beau Brieske in relief. His record improves to 3-0. David Robertson took the loss for St. Louis. The loss puts St. Louis at 7-8.
Jasson Dominguez came through with a big-time hit for Philadelphia. The left fielder smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 7-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Dominguez said.
