Walker, Astros Wreck White Sox, 10-1
|
The Houston Astros thumped the Chicago White Sox, 10-1, at Guaranteed Rate Field. Christian Walker was a big reason his team got the win. Walker went 2-2 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Jacob deGrom, the winning pitcher, improved to 3-1. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 2 hits and 1 run, while striking out 12 and walking 1. With the loss, Chicago drops to 5-13.
Ha-seong Kim had a big 2-run home run for the Astros in the top of the second inning. With Houston leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Zac Gallen and swatted a home run to right. It was his 3rd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Astros ahead, 3-0.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Walker.
