Phillies Need Extra Frames to Get Past Mets
|
Behind a fine performance from Christopher Morel, the Philadelphia Phillies knocked off the New York Mets, 14-5. Morel was 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Phillies. The winner in relief was Josh Winckowski. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. With the loss, New York falls to 11-12.
Philadelphia used the timely hitting of Jasson Dominguez to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put the Phillies on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I still think this team can play even better," Morel told the Philadelphia Gazette.
