The Oakland Athletics faced a tough opponent in Pittsburgh pitcher Bailey Ober, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Oakland Coliseum by a final score of 4-3. Ober went 5.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. Robert Stephenson, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 5th save. The Pirates are now 8-17.

Oakland took advantage of an error in the bottom of the seventh inning. The game was tied, 3-3, when CJ Abrams hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Athletics in front, 4-3.

Abrams called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
