The New York Mets topped the Washington Nationals, 7-5, with designated hitter Kyle Manzardo playing a big role. Manzardo was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs for the Mets in the win. The win puts New York at 13-13.

New York used a well-timed hit by Jake McCarthy to capture the win. The left fielder socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Mets ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Manzardo. "And not try to do too much."
