Athletics Win Division Series Friday, October 11th , 2024 It went the distance, but the Oakland Athletics finally disposed of the Houston Astros 6-2 in the series clincher at Minute Maid Park. Winning the finale gave the Athletics the series, 3-2. They will now advance to the League Championship Series. The Most Valuable Player Award went to Oakland right fielder Josh Lowe. He batted .571 in the series, collecting 1 RBIs and scoring 5 runs. "Josh deserves it," said Athletics manager Brad P. "He was the glue that held our club together." The Oakland Athletics will play against the Chicago White Sox in the next round. Chicago won their series against the Detroit Tigers 3 games to 1.
