Yankees Prevail, as Wild Card Game Goes to the Wire Friday, October 3rd , 2025 The joy and relief on the faces of the New York Yankees players was obvious as they celebrated their Wild Card Game win over the Chicago White Sox. "In a series like this, the smallest thing can make the difference in how it turns out," said New York shortstop Taylor Walls, shortly after the 2-1 win that clinched the series 2-1. "We're happy we did what it takes to get it done." The team is now off to the Division Series. Walls won series MVP honors on the strength of his .375 batting average during the series. He also had a .500 on-base percentage and 1 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 1 runs. The New York Yankees will play against the Oakland Athletics in the next round.
