Athletics Prevail, as Wild Card Game Goes to the Wire Thursday, October 3rd , 2024 The Oakland Athletics are heading to the Division Series, having narrowly defeated the Toronto Blue Jays. Oakland edged Toronto in the series 2-1, with a win at Rogers Centre in the clinching game by a 4-3 margin. Jose Siri turned in a strong offensive performance for the Athletics and got series MVP for his efforts. "I'll never turn down another trophy for my mantle, another accomplishment to remember once my career is over," he said. "What I would really remember, though, is a World Series win." It remains to be seen how the playoffs will conclude, but if Siri continues to swing a hot bat, his team will no doubt have a chance. For the series, he hit .500 with a .500 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, 3 RBI and scored 2 runs. The Oakland Athletics will play against the Houston Astros in the next round. Houston had a bye in the Wild Card Game.
