Pensacola Takes Round 1
Thursday, September 25th , 2025
The joy and relief on the faces of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos players was obvious as they celebrated their Round 1 win over the Mississippi Braves.
"In a series like this, the smallest thing can make the difference in how it turns out," said Pensacola third baseman Tyler Nevin, shortly after the 5-4 win that clinched the series 4-3. "We're happy we did what it takes to get it done."
The team is now off to the Round 2.
Nevin won series MVP honors on the strength of his .303 batting average during the series. He also had a .378 on-base percentage and 1 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 3 runs.
The Pensacola Blue Wahoos will play against the Tennessee Smokies in the next round. Tennessee won their series against the Rocket City Trash Pandas 4 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
