5-for-5 Game for Alvarez Monday, August 26th , 2024 Chattanooga shortstop Ignacio Alvarez went down swinging at AT&T Field, knocking out 5 hits even as his Lookouts fell, 6-1. "It was like I was hitting Little League pitching," Alvarez said after his 5-for-5 performance against the Mississippi Braves. "No offense meant to Mississippi, but it was like I was back in little league again -- I could see the ball that well." After the game, his manager elaborated on the shortstop's improvements, saying Alvarez spent the offseason trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball. "That's what I'm trying to do," Alvarez agreed. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it." Ignacio Alvarez singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th. Currently Alvarez is batting .355 with 1 home run, 34 RBIs and 58 runs scored. |
