Braves Advance to Round 2 Thursday, September 19th , 2024 The Mississippi Braves are bound for the Round 2. A 4-3 win over the Biloxi Shuckers at MGM Park ended the Round 1, 4-2. "We're not trying to get ahead of ourselves, but it's hard not to get pumped up and excited and think about how this season could end," said Willians [UNRATED] Astudillo. "This could be the biggest celebration Mississippi has ever seen if we can win the Round 2." The state of the Double-A South championship remains in doubt, but the Braves certainly appear to be strong contenders. Astudillo was named MVP of the Round 1 after he posted a .333 batting average, while adding 1 home runs, driving in 6 RBI and scoring 3 runs. The Mississippi Braves don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Birmingham Barons - Tennessee Smokies series. Birmingham leads the series 3 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
