A E News: The Offseason Begins

The cathedrals of baseball are silent. Another Low-A East season is in the books, and what a season it was! The champion has been crowned and the winners sent home to decorate their trophy cases. The fans have been left with many exciting memories to recall over the offseason. League awards will be announced over the coming weeks, but while players head for vacations and the ballparks are empty, there is plenty going on behind the scenes.
The offseason is a time for baseball's front office gurus to turn their attention to getting key players under contract, making financial decisions, and laying the groundwork for next year's campaign.

It's Over! Salem Defeats Myrtle Beach

The Salem faithful were cheering in the streets, and Myrtle Beach fans wiping away the tears, after the Red Sox won the Round 2 at Haley Toyota Field at Salem Memorial Ballpark today.
The Red Sox clinched it by knocking off the Pelicans 3-1 to take their 1st Low-A East crown. Salem took the series 4-1.
"This club never gave up all year long," Salem manager told the press. "They believed they could win the title and they did."
On the way to the Round 2 title, Salem compiled a 72-68 won-loss record and finished first in the Northern Division.
"We just didn't play well enough to win," Pelicans manager said. "We just didn't make the big plays like they did."

Salem Wins Round 1
Monday, September 22nd , 2025
Salem Red Sox won a nail-biting series against the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 4-3, wrapping up the Round 1 finale 3-2 at Atrium Health Ballpark.
Red Sox first baseman Jim Unknown was named the series MVP.
He batted .600, drove in 1 runs and scored 0 to lead Salem into the next round of play.
"Jim was real solid for us, real solid," said Red Sox manager . "I normally say I'd like to have nine of him out there, but thankfully we got by with just one this time."
The Salem Red Sox will play against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in the next round. Myrtle Beach had a bye in the Round 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes..
