Dalbec Hits 2 home runs in Guardians Win
|
Cleveland and Chicago duked it out and the Guardians came out victorious.
The Cleveland Guardians beat the Chicago Cubs, 7-4, at Progressive Field. Bobby Dalbec, who is tied for 8th in the AL in stolen bases with 19, starred for Cleveland. He was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. The win went to Yusei Kikuchi in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Andres Muñoz took the loss. Will Smith notched his 2nd save in 4 chances.
Had Gary Sanchez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Sanchez hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Guardians.
"It never gets old," said Sanchez. "Winning, that is."
With the win, Cleveland raised its record to 62-60.
