The Toronto Blue Jays picked up a win at Rogers Centre, topping the Los Angeles Angels, 4-3. On the mound for Toronto was right-hander Max Scherzer. He played a principal role in the triumph. Michael Kopech converted his 9th save in 13 tries. The 4th-place Blue Jays have won 4 consecutive games.

Had Will Benson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Benson hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Blue Jays.

"Bottom line," said Los Angeles skipper Mark A, "we didn't play well enough to win."
