Shewmake Slugs Rangers to 5-2 Win
|
The Texas Rangers licked the Oakland Athletics, 5-2. Braden Shewmake deserved a big chunk of the credit. The shortstop was 3-4 with 2 home runs and a double, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4 for the Rangers. Daniel Lynch, the winner, improved to 10-14. He held Oakland to 2 runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. Camilo Doval converted his 32nd save in 35 tries.
Shewmake had a timely hit for Texas in the top of the seventh. With Texas trailing 2-1, he turned a 0-1 fastball into a 2-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season, making it 3-2, Texas.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Rangers manager Daryl S. "This one was nice to get."
